In Lapland we fish big pikes in several ways. Heavy spin fishing is the most popular option. Also trolling is sometimes extremely effective, and fly fishing is possible of course. There is no right or wrong way – it all depends on the spot and your preferences. The type of spots we fish vary from shallow weed beds to bottom structures in deep water, depending on the place and time of the year. While fishing in deep water, we also do a lot of “sharpshooting”, actively using modern sonar technology (including Garmin LiveScope) to find the bait fish and the pikes. This way we can also throw the lure directly to a pike and see its reactions to the lure from the sonar screen.
When it comes to lures, we use a wide variety from big rubber baits to jerk baits, wobblers, spinnerbaits, spoons and traditional jigs. The gear depends on the type of lures we use, but don’t worry about that. We’ve got modern spinning sets for all different situations. We also got a wide variety of the best Lapland pike lures for you. For fly fishing, we don’t have many sets yet, but you can always bring your own sets too.
